VisJot — Support

VisJot is a private video journal for keeping a diary in sign language. Here is how to get help, and answers to the things people ask most.

Sign your question — you do not have to write it

The fastest way to reach us is inside the app, and you can do it in sign language:

  1. Open VisJot and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Tap Send feedback.
  3. Record yourself signing your question, or type it — either one on its own is enough.
  4. Tap send.

A signed video is a first-class way to ask for help here, not an attachment. This app is for people who sign, and asking you to explain a problem in written English would be asking you to use a second language to report a fault in a tool built for your first.

The screen shows you exactly what is sent before you send it.

Or write to us

Please include your app version if you can — it is shown on the Send feedback screen.

Questions people ask

Where are my videos stored?

On your device, and only on your device. Your entries, notes, titles and tags are saved to your phone's own storage. They are never uploaded to us, never backed up to us, and never shared.

What happens if I delete the app?

Everything goes with it. Because your recordings only ever existed on your device, deleting VisJot deletes them, and we have no copy to restore. There is no account and no cloud backup. If your entries matter to you, keep a device backup before deleting the app.

I got a new phone. How do I move my journal?

Restore the new phone from a backup of the old one, and your entries come with it. There is no sign-in that would carry them across on its own — nothing of yours is stored on our side to sync from.

Is there an account or password?

No. VisJot has no sign-in, no username and no password. There is nothing to recover, and nothing to lose access to.

What is "Share crash reports"?

A switch in the Profile tab, off unless you turn it on. When it is on, and only then, the app sends us the report your phone's own system (iOS or Android) prepares when the app closes unexpectedly. It helps us find and fix the crash. It contains no journal content — no video, no notes, no titles, no tags. Turning it off stops it immediately.

Does the app work without an internet connection?

Yes, entirely. Recording, watching, tagging and searching your journal all work offline. A connection is only needed if you choose to send feedback.

Something is wrong with the camera or the recording.

Check that VisJot has camera and microphone permission: on an iPhone in Settings ▸ VisJot, on Android in Settings ▸ Apps ▸ VisJot ▸ Permissions. If a recording will not save, check you have free storage — the app needs room to write the video before it can add it to your journal. If it still fails, send us feedback with the Profile tab and we will look into it.

How do I report a bug or ask for a feature?

Profile ▸ Send feedback, signed or typed. It reaches us directly.
